Shocked Over Vandalism, Gov To Meet TS & AP Police Bosses

The vandalism of AP police at old SIB building left the Governor shocked and worried over the example set by the law-enforcing authorities themselves in the charged differences over several issues of bifurcation, he called for a meeting of the police bosses of the two states today. The governor’s office sent meeting notices to them yesterday and asked them to bring along all information of  buildings allotted to them. The governor is expected to review the documents and the ugly incident at the SIB building to avoid such recurrences again. Telangana To Use Southern Grid To Get Power From Chhattisgarh

After the discussions of Telangana Energy Secretary SK Joshi and Transco MD SM Rizvi with Chhattisgarh officials on Wednesday, there is now clarity on Telangana’s immediate plan to solve it’s power shortage woes. The state’s officials surveyed all options and have zeroed in on using the space that would be available on-off in the southern grid capacities, now being used by Tamil Nadu and Karnataka mainly. While Telangana is making purchase agreement for getting up to 1000 mw, the space available could be as little as 200 mw initially and Telangana would like to get started with that purchase quantity and gradually increase as and when space is available. Develop Infrastructure Outside Hyderabad, ASSOCHAM advises Telangana Govt.

A strategy paper titled ‘Realising Growth Potential of Telangana’, undertaken by the ASSOCHAM, has been released. Development of industrial clusters, tapping of mineral resources, developing the food processing sector and setting up new power projects were some of the recommendations made in the paper, which is already submitted to the Chief Minister. The government should expedite completion of ongoing infrastructure projects and also take up new ones to bridge the divide between Hyderabad and other parts of the state, the report said. Telangana Officials To Meet Finance Commission To Discuss State’s Needs

Telangana Principal Secretary, Finance, V Nagi Reddy and the advisor to the Government GR Reddy today are visiting Delhi to meet the 14th Finance Commission. They would be discussing the criteria and modalities the commission would follow in allocating funds to AP and Telangana in view of bifurcation. the erstwhile AP got Rs 27,000 Cr. On a proportional basis, Telangana may get Rs 13,000 Cr. The TRS has in the past requested the commission to take population as a criterion. The delegation may discuss the government’s priorities in the various welfare and development schemes. Depending on the feedback, the Government would set out on budget preparation, officials say. Harish Rao’s Surprise Visit Finds Employees Unpunctual

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to Jala Soudha at 10 AM and found most staff were not attending duties on time. While officials informed Harish that the punctuality had improved after the introduction of the biometric system for attendance, the minister wasn’t satisfied to see employees not turning up even by 11: 30 AM when he was leaving. He told the officials to set right things before his next visit, in next few days. He also instructed the officials to keep the office clean when he saw unclean tables and chairs.
