Supreme Court

As expected, the Polavaram Ordinance is challenged in Supreme Court on constitutional grounds. The PIL filed cited how the ordinance is unconstitutional as it seeks to alter the boundaries of states without Parliament’s role and seeked the court to strike it down. Only the Parliament through Article 3 of the constitution can alter boundaries of the state. Advocate R Chandrasekhar Reddy filed the PIL. He also filed another PIL asking for an immediate ‘stay’ on the ordinance.

Fearing T-Advocates Protests, ‘Common High Court’ Restricts Entry Into Premises

The High Court on Saturday issued certain guidelines to those entering its premises with effect from June 2, when Telangana State becomes a reality. Telangana advocates have been demanding a separate high court for them. The Congress and BJP showed no interest in placating them while at the same time, executed the Polavaram Ordinance with extraordinary stealth and speed. Fearing anguished T advocates’ protests in the premises like those during the Telangana struggle, the High court notified that no one who doesn’t have business in court would be allowed into its premises. Why The Ordinance On Polavaram Is Unconstitutional

Polavaram Ordinance

The Government of India under the pretext of constructing Polavaram Dam, in the process of paying compensation to the tribals whose lands are under threat of being submerged has gone to the extent of issuing an ordinance transferring seven Mandals in the tribal district of Khammam from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh. Transferring of a tribal Village or a Mandal that has predominantly tribal land, from one authority to a ...

‘They Celebrated then,..Why complain now?’ – Venkaiah’s Sarcasm on Telangana

venkaiah naidu

In a disgraceful way, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu in a press conference on Thursday afternoon admitted publicly that he personally fulfilled the promise of Polavaram made by UPA Govt through the ordinance. After about an hour, the news poured in that the President promulgated the Ordinance. This confirmed our story earlier that Venkaiah Naidu personally got the ordinance signed by President even while the union cabinet lied that they didn’t even discuss the issue. Venkaiah justified his act by saying that there is no controversy on the transfer of 7 mandals to Andhra and that all have agreed it at the time of passage of AP Reorg Bill. Then the natural question is why they had to lie about the ...
