Modi Sarkar on Monday deferred the introduction of the Bill to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 in Lok Sabha realizing the pitfalls of going any further with the Bill, in view of at least 2 constitutional challenges the TRS and BJD threw at it. What makes the backtracks complete is that it even deferred placing before the house the explanatory statement for taking the Ordinance route. In case of Ordinances, this is mandatory to show reasons for immediate legislation through an ordinance (instead of going through of the house). Naidu Welcomes Hyderabad Circular But Wants Even More Power To Governor!

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu wrote to the Centre welcoming the circular sent by the Union home ministry. The full text of the circular can be seen here. However, he is not completely satisfied and wanted more power to the Governor! In the letter, he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accord more powers to the governor so that he can appoint the police commissioner of the city. “The circular is in the spirit of Section 8 of the AP State Reorganisation Act 2014, but the governor needs more powers.
