Fearing T-Advocates Protests, ‘Common High Court’ Restricts Entry Into Premises

The High Court on Saturday issued certain guidelines to those entering its premises with effect from June 2, when Telangana State becomes a reality. Telangana advocates have been demanding a separate high court for them. The Congress and BJP showed no interest in placating them while at the same time, executed the Polavaram Ordinance with extraordinary stealth and speed. Fearing anguished T advocates’ protests in the premises like those during the Telangana struggle, the High court notified that no one who doesn’t have business in court would be allowed into its premises.

As per the notification issued by the registrar-general, no outsider, including the advocates not practicing in the court, would be permitted to enter the premises without proper reason. The advocates practicing in the high court and all others who are unknown are asked to show their photo identity cards at the security gates of the high court to prove their bonafides for security reasons.

Change of Name

By another notification, the High Court has notified to change the name of existing high court as “High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the state of Telangana and the state of Andhra Pradesh” with effect from June 2, 2014.

The registrar (judicial) of the high court told all the advocates and litigant public that from June 2 onwards they should refer the name of the high court in all the proceedings, petitions, forms etc. to be filed in the registry as “High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the state of Telangana and the state of Andhra Pradesh”.

The common high court will issue its orders in the name High Court of Judicature for the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad, from June 2 onwards. The AP High Court will be renamed under Section 30 of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, according to a notification issued by the registrar-general of AP High court.
