With Bonalu being declared as the state festival of the newly formed Telangana, the State Tourism Development Corporation has launched Hyderabad Bonalu weekend package tours to Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahakali Temple and Darbar Maisamma Temple, Lal Darwaza. The tours operate on every Sunday. “We have taken this initiative to create awareness about the festival and also allow people to witness the biggest festival of Telangana,” said P Purander, an official of the  Tourism Development Corporation. “We plan to organising these tours every year for the convenience of people and tourists who visit Hyderabad for the first time,” he added. Bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh has forced public broadcaster Doordarshan to start separate transmission of the channel for residuary AP.The DD Saptagiri channel running from Hyderabad will be renamed to DD Telangana some other name recommended by Telangana Govt. and the DD Saptagiri name will be retained for residual Andhra Pradesh. With Hyderabad becoming a part of the newly formed Telengana, regular transmission of two hours a day, 5 pm to 7 pm every day, will commence from the Doordarshan Kendra of Vijayawada to cater to the residual state of Andhra Pradesh.
