Sunburn, Asia’s Largest Dance Music Festival, To Come To Hyderabad – KTR

Popular Goa dance music festival ‘Sunburn’ may come to Hyderabad if IT minister KTR’s plans work out. As part of a wider strategy to make Hyderabad a leisure destination, Telangana government is planning several initiatives to create more avenues for entertainment. The city boasts of several lakhs of high-spending professionals in Technology industry and the new initiatives seem to be aimed to increase the quality of leisure available in the city while at the same time tapping the market and create a new avenue of industry to generate jobs and revenue.

Sunburn is a 3 day electronic music festival packaged with music, entertainment, food, shopping and lifestyle that attracts music tourism in India. Sunburn was ranked by CNN in 2009 as the 9th Best Festival in the World. And in last 7 years has been held in Goa, Mumbai, Noida and spread to Sri Lanka in 2012 & Dubai in 2013. Hyderabad could join the list and make it’s foray into music tourism, if IT minister KTR’s discussion with the organizers fructify. The minister on Saturday said “I want to get the popular Goa music festival Sunburn to Hyderabad and have started talking to the event organisers regarding this,” and also added, “I did receive flak for my decision but we want to make Hyderabad as a leisure and entertainment destination.” KTR said that this was part of his new initiative “52 weeks, 52 events” aimed at cosmopolitan crowd and mostly importantly techies from all over the country.
