The BJP on wednesday criticized  Telangana Government for appointing tennis star Sania Mirza its brand ambassador and giving her a grant, saying she is a non-local and “daughter-in-law” of Pakistan. The Central government has nominated Telangana CM KCR as the Vice Chairman of Southern Zonal Council. Union Home Minster Rajnath Singh is nominated as the Chairman. The Southern Zonal Council, comprises the States of  Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha was the Vice-Chairman for an year till 10 July, 2014 and KCR is nominated to succeed her, retrospectively, from 11 July, 2014 and his term will be for 1 year. Telangana Chief Minister KCR on Tuesday assured that his government would introduce a first-of-kind industrial policy with international standards wherein investors would be able to start their businesses in Telangana in shortest possible time in the country. Interacting with the industrialists associated with FICCI, CII, FAPCCI and other industry bodies here, KCR said that the new policy, to be unveiled in next month, would be very friendly to industries. The Telangana government is keen to acquire 51 per cent stake owned by the central government in Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL). Telangana, just like some other states, is reeling under severe coal shortage which it needs to overcome to be self-reliant in power in next 3 years, as per its plans. Owning the company wholly would mean Telangana gets full control over the coal it produces, which it can use for it’s own needs.
