Sania Mirza Is Pakistan’s Bahu & Doesn’t Deserve State’s Ambassadorship, BJP’s Bizarre Comment

The BJP on wednesday criticized  Telangana Government for appointing tennis star Sania Mirza its brand ambassador and giving her a grant, saying she is a non-local and “daughter-in-law” of Pakistan. K. Laxman, BJP’s floor leader, alleged that the ruling TRS did this to appease minorities in view of the coming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) and alleged that all actions of TRS in last 50 days of rule are to appease muslims.

The BJP leaders opined that brand ambassador should have been a local and pointed out that Sania was born in Maharashtra and then came to Hyderabad in 1986, and chose to marry Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik in 2010. The newly elected floor leader hence thought Sania is ‘unfit’ for the honor of being a brand ambassador.

In fact, the leader went on compare Sania with Poorna Malavat, the 14 year girl who conquered Mount Everest last month! Giving Poorna just Rs 25 lakh and Sania Rs 1 Cr is muslim appeasement, as per the BJP leader.

The BJP leader didn’t stop there. He ridiculously compared the reward to Sania with fee reimbursement and asked the Government “When the government has set a stringent condition that it will not reimburse the fee of those students whose parents became residents of Telangana after 1956, how can it appoint a non-local its brand ambassador,”.

There is more. Mr. Laxman said Sania neither participated in the movement for separate Telangana state nor ever played “Bathukamma” to deserve any honor!!

The fun of the whole press conference in which the Mr Laxman made these comments is that he had BJP patriarch LK Advani in the backdrop, who is born in territory which in now in Pakistan. Mr Advani famously visited his birthplace, visited Jinnah’s tomb and called him secular. BJP had no issues with Advani but has issues with Sania marrying someone she loved.
