Prez Pranab Addresses 12th Convocation Of NALSAR

KCR NALSAR

President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday addressed the 12th annual convocation of NALSAR University of Law at Shamirpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta, Chief Justice of High Court of Judicature, Hyderabad, were present. In all, 649 degrees and diplomas were awarded besides 48 gold medals. Priyabada Das, a student, bagged 11 gold medals. Tungabhadra Rising And 33 Gates Up

Tungabhadra Dam

The spate of flood water flow remains unabated to Tungabhadra dam and it opened up all 33 gates sending out 1.5 lakh cuses while inflow remained at 1 lakh cusecs. The maximum capacity of the dam is till 1633 feet while water is up to 1632.39 feet already. The released water is reaching RDS project. Similarly, flood-gates of Almatti and Narayanapur in Karnataka and Jurala in Telangana have been opened to release waters in the range of 1.5 lakh cusecs. Tungabhadra dam authorities have issued flood warnings in both Bellary and Kurnool districts that lie along the Tungabhadra. Hyderabad Exempted From Aug 19 Maha Survey?

Hyderabad and GHMC area has been exempted from the “Intensive Household Survey”, the maha survey that is scheduled to be conducted by the Telangana state government on August 19 across the state. Over 4 lakh state government staff members have been assigned for the maha survey duties on August 19. While this would be enough to cover the districts, they wont be enough to cover Hyderabad and GHMC area. So in GHMC area, a separate survey would be taken up on later date with required staff from all the departments. Govt. Issues Orders To Start Survey For Jurala-Pakala Flood Canal

A day after the GO is issued for survey of Palamuru, the GO 70 sanctioning Rs 3.03 Cr has been issued to kickstart work of the Jurala-Pakala project. The Irrigation Dept. awarded the project to prepare the Detailed Project Report and to entrust the survey work, on nomination basis to M/s. WAPCOS LIMITED. The Jurala – Pakhala Flood Flow Canal is proposed from the foreshore of Jurala Project, Mahabubnagar District with sill level at (+)311.000M (at Jurala) to Pakhala Reservoir in Warangal district to feed the 700 no’s (approx) of enroute tanks situated in drought prone areas of Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Warangal districts of Telangana State during flood season in 35 days by diverting 24,000 cusecs for total 70.00 TMC.
