41 DSPs Demoted As Per SC’s Orders, 92 Promoted To DSPs As Per Seniority

Telangana Govt. has implemented the Supreme Court order on promotions. DGP Anurag Sharma on Saturday demoted 41 DSPs to inspectors. He held a counseling session with the DSPs and conveyed that the demotion is part of the process to adhere to the Supreme Court orders. Telangana government seems to be considering creating supernumerary DSP posts to accommodate the demoted DSPs and the DGP is reported to have conveyed the same. Earlier in the year, a mammoth exercise was taken up across the state for verification of promotion orders of about 2,000 DSPs. Telangana Gets Back 200 Medical Seats; Has 3 Months To Improve Facilities

Telangana got back the 200 seats cancelled earlier this year by MCI. Deputy Chief Minister and Medical and Health Minister Dr T Rajaiah confirmed this yesterday. “We have received an MCI (Medical Council of India) letter today giving 200 seats back to Telangana State”, he said. Of these, 100 seats will be filled in Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences in Nizamabad, 50 in Kakatiya Medical College and the remaining 50 will be filled in Gandhi Medical College. Sources in Medical Council of India (MCI) say MCI has agreed to restore 6,387 medical seats, across the country, in government colleges which were cancelled earlier this year. Telangana To Challenge Polavaram Bill In SC On Procedural Lapses

With the Lok Sabha Friday passing the contentious Polavaram bill for the merger of over 200 villages across 7 mandal in Telangana with Andhra Pradesh, the government of Telangana is planning to challenge it in the Supreme Court Terming the central government’s move “undemocratic” and “unconstitutional”, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said he was consulting legal luminaries and constitutional experts. “The fight will continue. The modalities will be announced later,” said a statement from the chief minister’s office. He said passing the bill to convert an ordinance issued last month into a legislation was a clear cut violation of article 3 of the constitution as the consent of Telangana was not taken. Telangana Draws A Blank In The Budget

The budget submitted by Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, has avoided making any commitments to the development of Telangana in budgetary allocations. According to the AP Re-Organization Act, both Telangana & AP States are supposed to get special tax incentives to spur growth in their regions. There is no reference the budget made in this regard. The minister just said the Government is “committed” to the development of these two States and that various departments were making proposals in this regard.  Telangana didn’t figure anywhere in the budget except getting a horticultural university, which was one of the promises of AP ReOrg Act.
