41 DSPs Demoted As Per SC’s Orders, 92 Promoted To DSPs As Per Seniority

Telangana Govt. has implemented the Supreme Court order on promotions. DGP Anurag Sharma on Saturday demoted 41 DSPs to inspectors. He held a counseling session with the DSPs and conveyed that the demotion is part of the process to adhere to the Supreme Court orders. Telangana government seems to be considering creating supernumerary DSP posts to accommodate the demoted DSPs and the DGP is reported to have conveyed the same.

Earlier in the year, a mammoth exercise was taken up across the state for verification of promotion orders of about 2,000 DSPs. Some of them had got promotions from inspector to DSP rank on an ad hoc basis. “All DSPs who secured promotions illegally will be demoted and those who were ignored will get their due,” the sources said.  A similar exercise is likely to be taken up even for officers of the rank of Additional SP, who were promoted from DSP.

These supernumerary posts would be in addition to nearly 92 DSP posts that would be filled up by promotions through seniority. Orders for the promotions are being given even as the demotions are done. The new promotion orders are issued after verification of the statewide integrated seniority list of inspectors and the final seniority list of DSPs, the DGP said.

Officials said the DSPs who secured promotions illegally have been demoted while those who were ignored despite having seniority got their due. Most of the demoted DSPs were promoted without any panel being appointed for recommendation, which was mandatory. The demoted officers are ACP Gopalpuram D. Vasanth Rao, Mirchowk ACP S. Gangadhar, Sultan Bazar ACP T.S. Ravi Kumar, Vanastalipuram ACP L. Anand Bhaskar, Panjagutta ACP M. Venkateshwarlu, Mahankali ACP N. Mahender, Special Branch City ACP J. Anyonya and detective department ACP J. Rama Rao. The inspectors who were promoted as DSPs (Hyderabad range) are A.V. Ranga Reddy, C. Gandhi Narayana, D. Anand Kumar, P. Srinivas Reddy, P. Satyanarayana, C. Madhu Mohan, V. Ravi Kumar, T. Manohar Reddy, S.M.K. Ismail, K. Ravinder Reddy, P. Sudhakar, M. Srinivasulu, N. Narsimha Reddy, G. Srinivas Kumar, A. Ramulu, B. Anjaiah, P. Krishna Murthy, B. Bhaskar, M. Thirupathanna, N. Bhujanga Rao, K. Shiva Kumar, D. Pratap, S. Sudhakar, E. Sathyanna, T. Govardhan, M. Narender Reddy, Shaik Lal Ahmed and B.V. Murali Manohar.
