Congress Veteran KR Amos Joins TRS, Likely To Get Ministry

76-year-old K.R. Amos, Congress MLC and veteran T-movement leader switched over to TRS from Congress yesterday plunging the Congress morale in the newly carved out State of Telangana. He along with 4 other senior MLCs from congress joined TRS yesterday. On the occasion, KCR praised Amos richly for his contribution to Telangana movement and recounted how his lost his job in the process. Tiffin for Rs 3, meals for Rs 5 in subsidized canteens in market yards

Taking cue from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s pet scheme ‘Amma Canteens’, which proved a big hit with people in Chennai, the TRS government has decided to introduce heavily subsidized canteens in market yards in the city. Tiffin will be served for Rs 3, while spending Rs 5 will fetch one a meal at these canteens.  This novel scheme will be implemented on pilot basis in Bowenpally market yard, initially, and later on will be extended to other markets. Marketing minister T Harish Rao and Excise Minister T Padma Rao inspected Bowenpally marketyard along with senior officials on Tuesday. Nine MLCs Including Five from Congress Join TRS

Nine members of Legislative Council — including five from Congress and two from TDP — in Telangana today crossed over to TRS, boosting the strength of the ruling party in the upper house. TRS also got a shot in the arm in the Legislative Assembly, with BSP MLAs A Indrakaran Reddy and Koneru Konappa joining it. The legislators joined TRS today in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. TRS’s strength in the 119-member Assembly now goes up to 65. The nine MLCs are: K R Amos, Jagadeesh Reddy, Bhanuprasad Rao, Rajalingam and Bhoopal Reddy (all Congress); Venkateswarlu and Salim (both TDP); Pula Ravinder and Janardhan Reddy (both elected from teachers’ constituencies). Copyright Claims On Thyagaraja Keertanas!!

A spate of copyright-violation notices issued to video channels on YouTube for uploading Carnatic music rendition of compositions of saint Thyagaraja, has raised the hackles of musicians and fans of the art form. An online petition has now been launched asking YouTube to initiate a discussion on the matter, which musicians feel strike at the heart of the art form. The issue escalated after ‘Parivadini,’ a popular video channel in the Carnatic music circles, uploaded on YouTube a recording of a concert in Chennai marking the World Music Day. Minister Harish Determined To Restore Lakes & Water Bodies For Farm Irrigation

Telangana State Government is focusing fully on restoring old lakes and water bodies as an immediate task to rescue farm cultivation in rural pockets.In a joint meeting with CM KCR and collectors, Irrigation Minister, T Harish Rao directed the officials concerned to initiate steps to renovate all water bodies on war-footing. It is the time for district officials to refurbish all the tanks, lakes and water bodies to boost up irrigation facilities in villages.
