Minister Harish Determined To Restore Lakes & Water Bodies For Farm Irrigation

Telangana State Government is focusing fully on restoring old lakes and water bodies as an immediate task to rescue farm cultivation in rural pockets.
In a joint meeting with CM KCR and collectors, Irrigation Minister, T Harish Rao directed the officials concerned to initiate steps to renovate all water bodies on war-footing. It is the time for district officials to refurbish all the tanks, lakes and water bodies to boost up irrigation facilities in villages. Avoiding wastage of rain water, storage of water in the lakes and old tanks that were kept unused for many years will prove handy to increase water table, Harish Rao seem to firmly told.

The Government has taken up measures in this direction with adequate funding and district officials should now shoulder the responsibility of implementing these, the Minister said. He also said that steps are needed to let off rain water from being stagnated in the fields to avoid crop loss. Since many farmers are shifting to towns and cities for livelihood in desperate situation, the only option to help them is to make available water for irrigation in lakes and water bodies in their villages, the Minister said.
