72 MW – Another Case Of Power Loss From Telangana’s Share

In addition to the power losses they already pointed out, to the tune of 955 MW, the Telangana Electricity Employees’ JAC pointed out another instance now where AP is taking power from Telangana’s share that was mandated through AP Re-organization Act. TEEJAC proved earlier that Telangana is losing an estimated 17.1 million units of power everyday with AP’s acts of defiance towards the AP ReOrg Act. In the latest example, Telangana’s loss is 72 MW. With this, the total loss of share for Telangana increased to 1027 MW.

The TEEJAC on Friday alleged that the Telangana State Transco (TSTransco) has lost 72 MW of capacity, resulting in a loss of 500 million units of energy, by its decision to forgo its rightful share from the short term power supply agreements with private generating units.

In a letter addressed to the Principal Secretary, Energy, the TEEJAC accused Andhra Pradesh Transco of providing “false and misleading” information to convince the TSTransco to avail the short term power based on geographical location of the plants.

Orders were placed prior to formation of Telangana State for procurement of 2000 MW of power on short term basis for the period between May 30, 2014 and May 28, 2015. Of the generators with whom such agreements were signed, 10 are located in Telangana and 23 in Andhra Pradesh.

PPAs

As with the long term PPAs, the short term power supply too was to be in the ratio of 53.89 and 46.11 for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

However, the APTransco and TSTransco have, post-bifurcation, decided to allocate generators between the two States based on their geographical location, the letter stated.

While loss to Telangana in terms of capacities stands at about 72 MW due to such decision, the same when calculated in terms of energy, amounts to nearly 500 Million Units, it said.

“It is learnt that APTransco has furnished false and misleading information to TSTransco based on which the TSTransco has agreed to the proposal,” the letter signed by TEEJAC coordinator K. Raghu said, and requested for cancellation of the decision and recovery of capacity and energy loss.

Further, action should be initiated against APTransco officials, it demanded.

  1. I don’t understand why Andhra has surplus power when the water from which they generate electricity is coming via Telangana.

Telangana should build dams and block water to Andhra. Andhrites are like covetous Jews, always taking something that isn’t theirs. Let them go to hell.

In fact, as history clearly points out, there is no such land called as Andhra. The entire region was Telangana and portions of it were generously donated to British by Nizam. Andhrites are none other than British of Telangana.

    Telangana ho!
