Yellow Media’s Creativity On Why Telangana Govt. Transferred IAS Suresh Chanda

Only yesterday, Telangana Talkies carried  a story on the circumstances surrounding transfer of Prinicpal Secretary (Energy), Mr. Suresh Chanda and wondered whose job would the next meeting cost. And yellow media created a good story around that inconsequential transfer to put the state government in bad light.

Right from day 1, there was criticism of that officer’s lack of enthusiasm to understand and defend Telangana’s interests. While conceding away power as per AP’s wishes, like in the area of unconventional energy generation, the Secretary’s unspirited defense costed another 65 MW in the CEA meeting in Delhi. As we reported, he was booted out the next day. The TEEJAC wanted him out as his stint costed Telangana a whopping 1350 MW! They alleged that the Secretary hasn’t showed any urgency on CM’s plans for solving the power woes. So it was natural he was moved to another department while SK Joshi IAS has been given charge of Energy department.

And now enters yellow media and cooks up a good story that Mr Chanda went by the book and ruled out the Government’s power purchase plans from Chhattisgarh! Somehow, these sections of media can’t seem to digest the fact that Telangana wants to fight back and solve its power problems. It is the same ruling elite this media supports, that are actually responsible for Telangana’s power problems today. Despite having coal mines, Telangana doesn’t have adequate power plants. They are all being set up in AP. They made sure there is no corridor connectivity to Telangana so that it’s dependent on Andhra region forever. And now the new state’s attempts to put up transmission lines is made controversial!
