Many in Delhi are surprised with the turn of events in last 2 days. While CM Kiran Kumar Reddy is projected as a Samaikyandra champion, many analysts are taking it with a pinch of salt and doubting his motives. They say that if he truly wanted to stop Telangana process, he would have refused to meet GoM, if not resign, thereby delaying GoM’s process of discussions. T Bill before cabinet by Nov 28 – National media

According to national media the draft Bill for Telangana statehood may be brought to the Cabinet on November 27 or 28. The GoM is planning to finalize their report on Nov 21. Once the Cabinet clears the draft Bill, it must forward the same to the President, who will then refer it to the Andhra Pradesh assembly for its views. However, the views of the Andhra legislature are not binding on the Centre. Then the bill is planned to be placed in the winter session of Parliament which may start in the 1st week of December.

Owaisi Effect: After Chandigarh model, Now Puducherry model!

Union Minister JD Sheelam demanded before the GoM that Hyderabad be made a UT on lines of Puducherry. After demanding UT status for Hyderabad, Seemandhra leaders, including union ministers were criticized by MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. As MIM’s concern would mainly be around losing political representation in Hyderabad as UTs won’t have an elected legislature, Seemandhra leaders made minor adjustment and are now demanding Hyderabad be made another Puducherry. Puducherry is also a UT but has an elected legislature with partial statehood powers due to a constitutional amendment. Donakonda in Prakasam rumored as a contender for Andhra Capital!

Donakonda Mandal of Prakasam district seem to have emerged as a dark horse in the race for Seemandhra’s capital as per GoM sources of few media persons in Delhi. The chief secretary seem to have proposed Donakonda as it has air base, well connected railway line and seems to be geographically well positioned in center in the residuary Andhra Pradesh. It also has vast lands available and plenty of green cover for a new capital to spring up. It needs to be seen how those lobbying for Vizag and Vijayawada suburbs would react to this proposal.
