bjp telangana

Hardly days after BJP senior Sushma Swaraj took a jibe at Congress to put it’s house in order before asking BJP for support to the Centre’s Telangana bill, BJP’s leaders in Andhra and Telangana came to loggerheads publicly when BJP’s MLAs Yennam Srinivas Reddy and Yendala Laxminarayana publicly accused the former party president M. Venkaiah Naidu of blatant partisanship towards Andhra. What has hitherto been an undercurrent in Telangana BJP wing burst out into open when Mr Naidu pushed for and got approved 32 amendments which diluted the rights of students and employees of Telangana even before the Telangana State is formed. Supreme Court shuts door on Federalism argument against Telangana bill

Supreme Court

Supreme Court bench, headed by H.L. Dattu and S.A. Bobde, heard for 1.5 hours anti-telangana arguments of those who claim the tabling the Telangana bill in Parliament is violation of India’s ‘federal’ structure. Vivek-Murthy

Midway through his confirmation hearing before the Senate Health Committee, Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia asked Vivek Murthy, nominee for US surgeon general, whether he had met Dr Raj Shah, USAID administrator, and the highest-ranked Indian-American in the Obama administration. No I haven’t, Murthy replied. You should, Senator Isakson advised him; you guys have the same background and same heritage, and you can learn from the great job he has done at USAID. The exchange, coming just hours after Microsoft elevated Satya Nadella as the CEO, served to highlight how people of Indian-origin are increasingly breaching the glass ceiling in the US, in areas as wide apart as industry, academia, and government.
