Telangana Planning ‘Pharma City’ In 8000 Acres

Telangana Government is embarking on an ambitious plan to set up a ‘Pharma City’ near Hyderabad in nearly 8,000 acres. The City will include industries as well as residential colony, and a power plant with 500 MW capacity will be set up adjacent to the pharma city to provide captive, dedicated and uninterrupted power supply to the industry, a press release from the chief minister’s office said today. “The required land, infrastructure facilities, communication facility, power supply, water supply etc. will be provided by the government…,” it said. The pharma city is expected to accommodate about five lakh employees besides their families in the residential colony touching about twenty lakh over a period,” the release quoted Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as saying. Telangana state is working towards a ‘zero-corruption industrial policy’ that would also unveil a efficient single-window clearance for setting up industries. As industry bigwigs are queueing up with their proposals, India’s newest state doesn’t want to waste any time with red tape and is planning to unveil it’s industrial policy in about a month. More comprehensive policies related to different verticals, from IT to manufacturing, will follow later, as per sources. Telangana Could Get An IIM In Future, Says HRD Minister Smriti Irani

The union minister on Monday said centre will consider setting up an IIM in Telangana in the future. HRD Minister Smriti Irani told Rajya Sabha on Monday that at present there is no proposal under consideration to set up IIM in Telangana. However, she said, the HRD Ministry is committed to setting up an IIM in states that do not have an IIM. So, the Ministry will consider setting up an IIM in Telangana. She said two separate requests have been received from S Venu Gopalachary, special representative of Telangana state in New Delhi, and Lok Sabha MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha to set up the institute in India’s 29th state. Telangana Wants To Buy Out Centre’s Stake To Wholly Own Singareni

The Telangana government is keen to acquire 51 per cent stake owned by the central government in Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL). Telangana, just like some other states, is reeling under severe coal shortage which it needs to overcome to be self-reliant in power in next 3 years, as per its plans. Owning the company wholly would mean Telangana gets full control over the coal it produces, which it can use for it’s own needs. NTPC Awaits Land & Coal Allocation For It’s 4000 MW Plant In Telangana

NTPC is awaiting identification of land by the Telangana government and establishment of coal linkage by the Coal Ministry for setting up a 4,000 MW power plant in the new state. State-owned NTPC is to establish a 4,000 MW power plant in Telangana as per the 13th Schedule of the Andhra PradeshRe-organisation Act. “NTPC is awaiting identification of land by Government of Telangana and establishment of coal linkage by Ministry of Coal, Government of India,” Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal today informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has also requested the Prime Minister for additional 500 MW power from NTPC for at least three years out of the central pool. As of June end, the allocation to Telangana from central generating stations stood ...
