Telangana Grappling For Solutions To It’s Power Woes

Telangana is still trying to grapple with the power issues it is in. The Energy secretary SK Joshi’s trip to Chhattisgarh, which was to happen last week, got postponed and may happen today. He may negotiate for an MoU for purchase of 1500 MW of power, higher than the initial plan of purchasing 1000 MW. The Govt notified creation of TS Electricity Regulatory Authority 2 days ago to fasten the MoU process as the common APERC, serving both AP and Telangana, reportedly cited existing procedures that wont allow for a direct inter-state agreement without competitive bidding. Owning Singareni Collieries Could Trigger Uninterrupted Development For Telangana

The recent decision of the Telangana CM to buy the 49 % share of the Government of India in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is to be welcomed. In 2012-13, SCCL had revenues of `10, 129 crore, realised a net profit of Rs. 401 crore and paid Rs. 140 crore in income tax. It paid a dividend of `86 crore and royalties of Rs. 3,500 crore to the State and Centre. It also owns Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery Corporation (APHMCL) at Kondapalli, Krishna. SCCL operations are spread across four North Telangana districts — Khamman, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad — where SCCL is the largest employer. Azim Premji Congratulates CM KCR On Achieving Telangana

Wipro boss Azim Premji met CM KCR and  congratulated him for achieving Telangana state and forming the first government. Premji recollected about Wipro and it’s association with Hyderabad in his meeting with the CM and elaborated on his company’s expansion plans in Telangana. The CM on his part, said that the Telangana government would bring out a transparent and corruption-free single-window system soon, to give all requisite permissions to new projects. Hyderabad would also be made an infotech hub and a 4G Wi-Fi city, the CM added. Gujarati Group Shreem To Invest Rs 67 Cr In Telangana

The Rs 2,200-crore Shreem group of companies based in Gujarat plans to invest Rs 67 Cr in setting up a farm nutrient unit and a pharmaceutical facility in the State. The Group has evinced interest in Telangana’s planned ‘Pharma City’, as per a report in The Hindu. The Gujarati group involved in real-estate, hospitality, pharmaceuticals and agri inputs, has entered into an agreement with a Polish firm to manufacture specialty nutrients for agriculture and plans to set up and bring into operation a plant near Hyderabad by December, with investment of Rs 42 Cr.
