Mahindra Group Chairman Meets KCR; Invites Him To Open New Plant In Zaheerabad

$ 16.7 billion Mahindra group Chairman & Managing Director Anand Mahindra met CM KCR on Saturday and discussed the ongoing works for the car plant near the Zaheerabad tractor plant. Mr Mahindra reportedly informed the CM that the plant would be operational within 4 months and that he would personally invite the CM for the opening ceremony. Mr Mahindra expressed his happiness at the way the tractor plant has turned out and hoped the car plant would see similar operational success. The tractor facility has been set up with an investment of Rs 300 crore and with an installed capacity of one lakh tractors per annum which can be scaled up to meet additional demand. The plant is situated in about 80 acres of land and is built over 60,000 sq metres.

Mahindra & Mahindra is in the process of expanding its product line to light commercial vehicles ( LCVs) with the new manufacturing plant with a capacity of 92,000 vehicles per year and the new plant is part of the plan. The initial investment for this was Rs 250 crore and the plant is expected to provide additional employment to 500-700 workers. With further expansions Mahindra is planning, the investments could increase to Rs 1000 Cr.

The existing tractor and automative plants have provided employment to more than 1500 people, both directly and indirectly. Almost all the jobs were taken by locals of Zaheerabad constituency, providing the right impetus for employment locally. In fact, Telangana Mazdoor Sangh, the TRS affiliate trade union is elected in the trade union elections last december.
