Telangana State Government is focusing fully on restoring old lakes and water bodies as an immediate task to rescue farm cultivation in rural pockets.In a joint meeting with CM KCR and collectors, Irrigation Minister, T Harish Rao directed the officials concerned to initiate steps to renovate all water bodies on war-footing. It is the time for district officials to refurbish all the tanks, lakes and water bodies to boost up irrigation facilities in villages. The Southern Regional Load Despatch Centre Tuesday directed the AP government to stop itself from drawing more power, from the grid, than it was using till June 2, till the Centre resolved the power purchase agreements (PPAs) row. Both Telangana and AP lodged complaints with the Centre over power sharing issue and the Centre directed the SRLDC to resolve the same. The SRLDC held a meeting with energy officials of both the States in Bangalore. The SRLDC decision is the second big blow to AP, which faced a similar rejection from the ERC. Germany has set a new record, with solar power providing 50.6% of its electricity in the middle of the day on Monday June 9th. Solar production peaked that day at 23.1GW. Three days earlier it was 24.2GW between 1 and 2pm, but on the 9th demand was down for a public holiday, allowing the breaking of the psychological 50% barrier. Reporting of the achievement has been quite inaccurate in some cases.
