5 Lakh Acres In Mahbubnagar Will Get Irrigation Water Next Kharif

Harish RaoTelangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said the government would supply irrigation waters to 5 lakh acres in Mahbubnagar district in the next Kharif season.

Harish Rao said major irrigation projects like Kalwakurty, Bheema, Nettempadu, RDS and Koilsagar will be completed shortly. The government will give top priority for completion of irrigation projects pending for long time, and which can be completed with some extra effort for few months, to cater to the needs of agriculture, he said. The TRS government will address the needs of irrigation sector in the district which is facing perennial drought conditions due to scanty rainfall.

“The TRS government is committed to provide the farmers of the district with adequate waters to cultivate their parched lands and increase produce”, he said. Reiterating that the government was planning to link up all the lakes to increase ground water table and ensure timely supply of waters to farming activities, he said the government would consider to cut power supply twice in a week for industries to meet the agricultural needs. Steps would be taken to sanction an SE office for minor irrigation in the district, he added.
