Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today held a meeting with TRS Party MPs and discussed the strategy to be adapted in Parliament on Monday to tackle Centre’s moves on Hyderabad. He also met Keshava Rao & Jithender Reddy, the party’s floor leaders in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha for over 2 hours on availing all opportunities to handle the issue. The MPs would reportedly meet the PM and the home minister to convey the state’s concerns over the issue, once again, in a last ditch attempt. If that fails, the TRS is planning to elicit support of other states’ CMs to oppose the Centre’s moves. TRS expects support from other states as the Centres’ actions are seen intrusive into State’s subjects of law & order.
KCR also asked the MPs to raise the issue in Parliament and stoutly oppose the Centre’s action. The MPs are told to work on this single-mindedly till Centre withdraws the directive. The TRS MPs will raise the issue in both houses and seek to know why the Centre wants to violate the Constitution, which offers equal rights to all states. Telangana is a new state and it should have similar powers and rights to that of 28 states carved out before it, they will argue. I
The CM is reportedly already in touch with CMs of other states, like Maharashtra, Odisha and Tamil Nadu, over the issue and has elicited their support.
