Coca Cola Planning One Of It’s Largest Plants In Telangana

Representatives of Coca-Cola are scheduled to meet CM KCR today in Hyderabad over plans to build one of their largest greenfield plants in India. Coca-Cola which has been facing quite a few hurdles in opening up new factories, due to land and environmental issues, in India has now shifted focus to Telangana after the State government’s industry friendly steps in last 2 months.

Coke executives will brief the Chief Minister on their plans and may put forth their requirements of land, water and power. The location they may propose is not known at the moment. The company, which has 58 bottling plants in India, already has four plants in Hyderabad.

Off late, Coca-Cola has been trying to ramp up it’s manufacturing in producing sparkling beverages, including Coca-Cola’s carbonated-drinks, as well as still beverages such as Kinley water and Maaza mango-based drink. It planned for a plant in Karnataka which was aborted by the farmers and High Court there. It then planned to invest around Rs 550 Cr in Karnataka. Coca-Cola also earlier announced plans to setup it’s largest Asia plant in South India with Rs 1200 Cr. The proposal it is has for Telangana could be either of these 2 projects and the investment could be anywhere between Rs 600 Cr to Rs 1200 Cr.
