Now, ‘disciplined’ BJP in disarray in AP over Telangana

Hardly days after BJP senior Sushma Swaraj took a jibe at Congress to put it’s house in order before asking BJP for support to the Centre’s Telangana bill, BJP’s leaders in Andhra and Telangana came to loggerheads publicly when BJP’s MLAs Yennam Srinivas Reddy and Yendala Laxminarayana publicly accused the former party president M. Venkaiah Naidu of blatant partisanship towards Andhra. What has hitherto been an undercurrent in Telangana BJP wing burst out into open when Mr Naidu pushed for and got approved 32 amendments which diluted the rights of students and employees of Telangana even before the Telangana State is formed. However, Mr Naidu has not stopped there and is now insisting on revenue sharing of Hyderabad. The developments led to a distaste among Telangana votaries and they are now seeing BJP as the reason for this mess. There are also doubts over Naidu’s statements repeatedly pointing that BJP will have to revisit it’s decision on support to Telangana bill.

Telangana BJP leaders unitedly called a press conference and condemned Naidu’s approach and asked him in what capacity he is releasing statements over Telangana. For a party which boasts of discipline and ideological moral high ground, attacks on it’s former President, who is considered the mover and shaker of 2014 poll alliances, should be a reality check and should make it to come to sense over what it has to lose – BJP’s presence in AP assembly is only through Telangana.
