17 Of 25 Bodies Recovered From Beas; HC Court Asks For Status Report On 24 June

Recovery of 4 bodies of students who were washed away in Beas River 15 days ago has kept alive hopes of more bodies surfacing as the government under the courts roving eye draws up plans to put in place rules and regulations for releasing water from dams. In the backwaters of Pandoh dam, today four bodies of the students from VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology of Hyderabad were found floating. Telangana Transport Minister Mahender Reddy, who is camping in Himachal Pradesh, said the hunt is on for tracing out the remaining seven bodies. “We will put in continuous efforts until they were fished out. CCI Adilabad Unit Hopes For A Miracle

Workers and employees of the Adilabad unit of the Cement Corporation of India are now hoping that the Chief Minister will take the lead to get the unit reopened with his efforts at Centre. The unit was closed in 1998 but the employees say in view of the rich limestone deposits in the area, the unit would have good future if reopened and run well. The CCI unit was commissioned in January 1984 with a production capacity of 1,200 tonnes off cement per day at a cost of Rs.35 crore in an extent of 774 acres including the quarry. R Vidyasagar Rao took charge as advisor to Government of Telangana in Chamber 408 of D Block in Secretariat in Hyderabad on Sunday. He would advise the government in Irrigation affairs in the newborn State. A well-known voice for the injustices met to Telangana in irrigation and water allotments, Mr Rao is a confidente of the Chief Minister and is one of the brains behind the Irrigation plans envisaged by the new Telangana Government. Telangana Plans To Host Investor Summit With 100+ Countries

Telangana Chief Minister KCR is planning a mega investor & industrial summit to showcase the State as the investment destination. On the lines of ‘Vibrant Gujarat’, ‘Advantage Karnataka’ and ‘Lead Bengal’, the partnership summit would host representatives of around 160 countries and serve as a platform which would bring together heads of governments, trade ministers, industry leaders and academicians from across the world. Fissures have started to appear in the State unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA), the representative voluntary organisation of doctors.
