Ravi Prakash, CEO of news channel TV9, was today arrested and released on bail in connection with a criminal case registered against the channel. The case was filed in June as reported by Telangana Talkies, on June 19. He had moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail but was not granted. Based on the directions of Hyderabad High Court, Ravi Prakash was supposed to surrender before a local court. He instead today surrendered before the L B Nagar police. A lawyer  S Janaradhan Goud had filed a private complaint in the court, against TV9′s infamous Bullet news bulletin. Mr. Ravi Prakash furnished two sureties each of Rs. 20,000 and a personal bond of Rs. 25,000. He will have to appear before police every first Sunday of the month ...

Telangana MSOs replied to the notice issued by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India that they had to stop telecast of ABN and TV9 bowing to public pressure over their hurt sentiments. Earlier, the TRAI sought explanation on why MSOs had stopped the two channels without the mandatory 15-day notice. After a meeting on Monday, MSOs told media persons that they are not afraid of Centre’s pressure and will go to any extent to fight for their rights. They accused the Centre of issuing orders for ABN and TV9, at the behest of AP Government and Andhra businessmen, while maintaining silence on ban of v6 and TNews in AP. The shocking derogatory language used by TV9 against Telangana legislators continue to cause ripples in Telangana with people unable to digest the attack their newly formed State came under. Telangana State MSO president Subhash Reddy stated that the telecast of TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothi channels in Telangana will be stopped and this may come into force immediately. There are widespread demonstrations and protests across Telangana against the Andhra channels and newspapers which either abuse or altogether ignore the Telangana State Govt. and Assembly. The Telangana legislature unanimously resolved to punish TV9 for it’s derogatory language against the MLAs/MLCs and gave all powers to the speakers of both houses to take necessary actions against the channel.
