“It’s only the beginning. You will see more action in the days to come” – KCR

Chief Minister KCR came down heavily on land grabbers in the press conference on Wednesday. He said some in media and private groups are trying to justify encroachments of Govt lands by comparing those with Microsoft and Infosys which are built on what were once wakf lands. He said these escape routes wont work and pointed to the fact that while those companies were allotted lands by Governments, companies like Lanco and MR Properties cheated Government by using lands allotted to them for purposes other than what they were meant for. He said the Govt. would take action against them.

The CM said his Govt. will clear encroachments on Gurukul Trust lands and Bhoodan lands and that it is it’s duty is to protect government and trust lands from land grabbers. On grabbing of Bhoodan land, the Chief Minister asked encroachers to surrender the lands voluntarily or face stringent punishment in the days to come. “It’s only a beginning. You will see more action in the days to come,” he said. Out of an estimated 2,00,000 acres of Bhoodan land in the composite state, half of the land is encroached. Telangana Govt is surveying how much of the encroached are in Telangana.

The CM said he had no animosity against anyone particular but would not spare anyone indulging in illegal activities including running illegal clubs, land grabbing, illegal constructions and other anti-social activities in and around Hyderabad besides other parts of Telangana. He added that the government’s priority was to ensure a regulated Hyderabad and protection all sections of people, including women.
