Don’t Attend APSCHE’s Counseling, Says Jagadishwar Reddy

Telangana Education Minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy said students of the state need not attend the certificate verification process for which the notification was issued by the APSCHE. Mr. Reddy termed the APSCHE’s notification as illegal and a ploy by A.P Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and APSCHE to mislead students and defame the Telangana Government. He pointed out that the AP Govt. didn’t even issue a GO to start counselling but enacting a drama with APSCHE. He added that engineering classes started only in October in the last five years and counseling in the past never happened in July

He assured students from the State that Telangana Government will conduct its own engineering counselling soon after completing ongoing college inspections of task force. This exercise will take 3-4 weeks, he added.

He said only the Telangana government has the authority over all the colleges in the state and the AP Government cannot allot seats to its students here. The Minister also made it clear that it was the Government’s prerogative to decide on who should benefit from fee reimbursement and it was committed to help only Telangana candidates. The FAST scheme guidelines will be announced soon. He challenged AP Govt to declare it wont pay fees for it’s own students before starting counseling. He threw a jibe at the AP CM saying even birds and animals take full responsibility of their offspring but the AP CM want to push that responsibility on other states.

The JNTU Hyderabad Vice Chancellor, P. Rameshwar Rao, who was present at the press conference, said that the inspection process of 446 colleges under its jurisdiction was on and it will take two to three weeks for completion. The report will indicate which college can be included in the counselling based on its quality and adherence to norms.
