TSCHE To Release Telangana’s EAMCET Counseling Schedule

Chairman  T Papi Reddy of  the  newly-constituted Telangana State Higher Education Council  (TSCHE) has stated that counseling for Telangana state students will be conducted by the Council itself  and the counseling would be completed by August 31 as per the verdict of the Supreme Court.  The council will meet tomorrow and would decide the future course of action for carrying the admission process for the state’s students.

The council is expected to clear the air on the process of certificate verification of the EAMCET-qualified students in the state, besides deliberating on the observations of the Telangana government-appointed task force that has been inspecting quality norms across 400 private engineering colleges in the State. half of the colleges are reportedly inspected already. The Chairman is quoted to have said  “a majority of colleges inspected were found falling short of academic staff, laboratories, other basic infrastructure and high student drop-outs”. “In such an alarming scenario, we don’t want to rush the admission process as it would only benefit these colleges.”

With regard to the APSCHE controversies, he said that TSCHE is ready for discussions with the AP Council, if necessary.  Telangana Govt. has been saying it is committed to the 10 year admission process as mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act and that the non-locals seats can be continued to be availed by AP students. But AP has to pay their fees. The decisions of the Council in this regard, related to non-local quotas, would be intimated to the Chief Minister and a  final decision would be taken, he added. He said that students and their parents need not have any worry about the matter.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government has appointed two vice-chairmen, a secretary and four nominated members to the state’s council for higher education.
