Channel Boycott Becomes Telangana BJP’s Sole Concern!?

abn tv9 boycott telanganaTelangana BJP unit did another exercise to express concern about the boycott of ABN and TV9 yesterday. It urged Governor E S L Narasimhan to take necessary measures for restoration of two Telugu channels — TV9 and ABN — which were blocked out by MSOs in the State. While the State is in a power and water crisis, thanks to AP’s action, the BJP has neither made its views public on those critical issue snor did it broach the subjects with the common governor Narasimhan. Is the channel boycott the only issue the BJP sees in Telangana today!?

The BJP has earlier dubbed the MSOs as fascists for their actions. They also severely criticized the State Government as anarchic, feudal and fascist and alleged they are encouraging the MSOs’ boycott.

In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, the delegation of BJP leaders led by floor leader Dr K Laxman said the two TV channels namely TV9 and ABN have been put off in Telangana for the last two weeks as MSO have blocked out the signals on the grounds that they have telecasted something objectionable on the legislators belonging to Telangana. But after their unconditional written apology to the members through a letter to the Speaker, the matter should have been put to rest. It was nothing but gagging voice of the media, the BJP leaders said, adding that the State government, which states that it has nothing to do with MSO’s action, till date had not taken any action for illegally blocking the channels for reasons beyond constitutional and legal framework. The signatories to the latest memorandum are BJP MLAs & office-bearers.

This is the latest in a series of press releases, press conferences and delegations on behalf of BJP on this issue.
