HC Allows GHMC To Take Action Against N-Convention Center

High Court today removed the status quo on the issue of N-Convention center and allowed GHMC to proceed with any lawful action it need to take in the case. However, it reminded GHMC to issue notices before going ahead with any action. With this, GHMC is all set to issue notices. Earlier, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said they are ready to issue notices but have held back due to the court order to maintain status quo. GHMC is expected to issue notices now after determining the exact FTL of the abutting Thammidi Kunta lake and how much of it is encroached by Nagarjuna’s N Convention Center.

When asked what town planning officers were doing while constructions were being carried out without permission, the GHMC commissioner attributed the large-scale unauthorised constructions to shortage of town planning staff and said chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had given instructions for immediate recruitment of staff. The  process was set in motion and recruitment would be made through the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) very soon, he added.

Meanwhile, Telangana government on Tuesday transferred three top senior officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for Failing to stop unauthorised and illegal constructions that have come up in a large number in Gurukul Trust Lands. They include GHMC additional commissioner (Planning) P Venkata Rami Reddy, zonal commissioner (West Zone) Aleem Basha and chief city planner G V Raghu.
