BJP-TDP outplayed by Congress politics over Telangana Bill introduction?

The way Congress went ahead and introduced the Telangana Bill in Parliament in the din and violence planned by Seemandhra MPs showed that it didn’t play by the conditions laid by BJP. The BJP under the influence of it’s new found ally TDP was asking for ‘order’ in Parliament while the bill is placed. This is a ridiculous condition only laid down to halt the introduction in the first place. Every controversial piece of legislation has opposition while it is tabled. It is the will and conviction of the ruling coalition that matters in these cases. The BJP thought the best chance it has to halt the T Bill to please it’s ally TDP is to stop the T Bill from being tabled. As the BJP with it’s decade long support to T cause can’t take a u-turn and vote against T bill after it is placed, they took the route of laying these conditions. The Congress which has too much riding on the bill can’t take the excuse of BJP’s conditions and stop in it’s tracks and went ahead and placed the bill. BJP could not digest the sudden turn of events and questioned the introduction to put Congress in a spot. BJP President, Sushma Swaraj all sound till today as if the bill is not yet tabled. This is despite the speaker’s ruling that the bill is introduced. This is the only trick BJP has up it’s sleeve and it needs to be seen how long they will hide under this technicality to delay T Bill.

Now that the bill is placed, the Congress will press for it’s passage and BJP may not have any option other than proposing some Pro-Andhra amendments (to save it’s TDP alliance) and support the bill’s passage. If BJP sounds reluctant, they would be the villain in Telangana, the only presence they have in AP! BJP has 3 MLAs in Telangana and none in Andhra. Telangana BJP expects to win at least 3 MP seats in Telangana in next elections if BJP maintains the pro-Telangana stance they were maintaining before. BJP does not have cadre worth it’s name in Andhra and is dependent on allies like TDP. So the onus now is on BJP and it’s actions are under a microscope. They can not afford to be confused with TDP’s stance and have to make up their mind. Telangana asks them – with us or against us.
