Telangana May Lose Vikarabad, Tandur & Zaheerabad To New Gulbarga Rly Division!

While Telangana has been demanding the railway division at Kazipet for years now, the Centre which gave nothing in the railway budget despite Telangana now being a separate state, is now moving to take Telangana areas in Secunderabad division from south central railway and attach them to the Gulbarga division it is planning to set up! The Gulbarga division is likeley to come up under South Western Railways. The areas SCR is bound to lose are important stations like Vikarabad, Tandur and Zaheerabad will be transferred to Gulbarga. Despite protests from Telangana MPs, the Centre is working on this plan also to merge the Telangana areas into Gulbarga division of South Western Railway. Telangana Reclaims Golconda; Millennial Fort Regains Glory

With the first-elected government of newly-formed Telangana State having decided on celebration of its first Independence Day from the historic Golconda Fort, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on August 15 will hoist the national flag from the Taramati mosque near Rani Mahal inside the fort with Bala-Hissar, the highest point of the fort, providing the backdrop. The State Government has forwarded it’s plans to ASI, which protects the heritage fort, for permission. “The celebration of Independence day and other state festivals has to take place at Golconda Fort. AP Bullies CEA To Withdraw It’s Recommendations On PPAs

AP Government blocked a bid by the Neeraja Mathur Committee to give Telangana it’s due share in power, as per the AP Reorganisation Act. In the 2nd meeting held in Delhi yesterday, AP questioned the locus standi of the Committee to oversee the PPA dispute between both the states. This brings the issue back to square one. AP’s stance was always questionable as AP CM Chandrababu Naidu declared even earlier that the Committee is just an advisory body. The Committee held it’s 1st meeting on July 14th and both states presented their arguments.
