Osmania University is the 7th best university in the country as per India Today-Nielsen survey for year 2014. The University of Hyderabad is ranked 5th. Kakatiya University is ranked 36 while Andhra University is ranked 10th. The rankings are for all State and Central universities. Among State universities, OU is ranked 2nd after University Of Delhi in the country. The higher education system in India is the third largest education system in the world, in terms of scale. Centre Plans AIIMS Like Institute In Every State, Except In ‘Special’ Telangana!!

The centre thinks Telangana is the only state in India that doesn’t require an AIIMS like institution! While the Centre granted AIIMS-like institutes to the 4 States of Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, AIIMS-like institutions have already been established in the 6 states of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Bihar, Chatisgarh and Uttarakhand.  The union health ministry  announced it has written to all remaining States, barring the sparsely populated north-eastern states, to identify lands for setting up AIIMS. The catch is that the centre has written to the 11 States Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Punjab and not for Telangana. Hyderabad is set to become a megacity, with a population more than 1 Crore, over the next decade. Hyderabad is one of the 4 cities in India that will become megacities over the next decade. Hyderabad’s population more than doubled since 1990 but it ranked almost same as 38th most populous city now and then. The city’s population is estimated to increase to 1.277 crore by 2030, becoming the 28th most populous city in the world by 2030. Centre Delivers On Sec 94 To Andhra, Refuses The Same To Telangana

Fledgling Telangana State was counting on central assistance as promised under Section 94 of AP Reorganization Act. Clauses 1 and 2 of the Act say - 94. (1) The Central Government shall take appropriate fiscal measures, including offer of tax incentives, to the successor States, to promote industrialisation and economic growth in both the States. (2) The Central Government shall support the programmes for the development of backward areas in the successor States, including expansion of physical and social infrastructure.
