Telangana Has To Wait For 1 Year To Even Buy Additional Power!

Even while residuary AP has placed orders with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to buy additional power, Telangana has to wait for at least an year to purchase power from either the North-South grid from it’s neighbors Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, thanks to the atrocious discrimination of erstwhile AP State against Telangana region in getting it connected with transmission lines. Though Chhattisgarh is willing to sell power, Telangana can’t immediately buy as the only transmission between 2 states is Sileru in Khammam which is now litigated by AP with the help of Modi Government’s Polavaram Ordinance. Irrespective of what happens with Sileru, Telangana is preparing for an alternative transmission line as per CM KCR’ statement in assembly. But this new transmission line could take a minimum of 11 months to be built said KCR. That would mean Telangana would have to wait for 1 year to even start buying additional power from it’s neighboring States.

The new transmission line will come between Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh and Bhupalapally in Warangal across the Godavari river. KCR already spoke to Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh regarding the power purchase and is expected to visit Chhattisgarh shortly upon latter’s invitation. KCR said in assembly, if needed, he will take an all-party delegation to Chhattisgarh is see first-hand the plan Telangana Govt. is putting in place to get power from the neighboring state.
