Telangana MLAs Want House Privileges Invoked Against Chauvinists At TV9

The shocking Bullet News episode continues to make waves even while the TV9 management seems to have written a letter to the speaker of the Telangana legislature expressing regret over the derogatory comments made against the honorable members of the 1st Telangana assembly. The Telangana Assembly on Saturday passed a unanimous resolution urging Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary to take stringent action against TV9 news channel for running a programme using abusive and derogatory language against the members of the Assembly.

CM KCR moved the resolution condemning the channel for running the programme and insulting the Telangana Legislature as well as the legislators. He urged the Speaker to take action against the channel. MLAs and MLCs met in the Committee Hall of the Assembly where a CD of the controversial programme was played. Both speakers, Mr. Madhusudhana Chary and Council Chairman Nethi Vidyasagar, along with other members, witnessed the programme and were furious after listening to the comments. They asked the speakers to take the stringent actions possible with some even suggesting the speaker to invoke privileges and get those involved in the program at the channel arrested. They saw chauvinistic designs in the program that are intended to insult Telangana, its government and it’s culture. Revanth Reddy from TDP has suggested the speaker to consider the apology of the channel. The apology itself is not public, like the program it aired, which shows its an half-hearted attempt.

TV9 is yet to apologize publicly over it’s program that left the whole of Telangana, including it’s CM, shell-shocked. That shows the so-called regret is a dishonest attempt to tide over the angst against it’s regional chauvinism. The derogatory comments can be seen in this post.
