Telangana film chamber seeks GoM probe into TFI land violations

The Telangana cinema chamber of commerce (TCCC) dashed off a letter to the Group of Ministers(GoM) asking it to review allotment of land to the Telugu film industry(TFI) and detect violations before concluding the State’s bifurcation process.In a letter to the GoM, TCCC said, “As a part of division of assets and liabilities, you are requested to review the lands allotted to the film industry and detect the violations.”

TCCC general secretary Syed Rafi claimed that contrary to popular belief, language has not been a unifying factor in Andhra Pradesh. He said, “It has been proved that there is a great barrier between the Telangana and Seemandhra regions of the State due to the supremacy of wealthy of Andhra capitalists, whose unaccounted earnings flowed into the Telugu film industry and created chaos in the Telangana culture and spirit of the people.”He claimed that Telangana talent did not find any place in cultural space and was sidelined. He said, “To top it all, Telangana culture was portrayed as backward and lacking in refinement.

The Telangana language is shown as a crude form of Telugu and satirised. In short, it (the language) was reduced to an embarrassment.”
“The Union Cabinet’s decision to bifurcate the State is seen as a re-establishment of Telangana as a cultural body and as an act of conserving a rich culture representing various shades of vivacious sub-cultures. After reviewing and detecting violations, we requested the ministers to take necessary steps to reclaim the properties and impose suitable penalties on violators. We requested in the letter for the formation of an expert group to examine and compute violations in terms of loss of opportunities to Telangana artistes. Suitable compensation may also be indicated in the report,” he added.
