S Narsing Rao Formally Appointed; Takes Charge As Principal Secretary For KCR

Former Chariman & Managing Director, Coal India Limited S Narsing Rao is formally posted as Principal Secretary to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao on Thursday, as per GO 96.

The centre has accepted the resignation of S Narsing Rao from the post of Chairman and Managing Director of Coal India (CIL) on June 24. Rao took over as Chairman of CIL, in April, 2012. Prior to the top post at the ‘Maharatna’ coal mining monolith, Rao – an IAS officer of 1986 batch from Andhra Pradesh Cadre – was Chairman of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), the AP-based coal mining company from September 2006. 

Although Mr Rao’s was tipped to be take over as PS in the CMO on May 20his resignation and the subsequent formalities of relieving from the CIL post took time. He had a 3 month notice period to serve but it was waived off considering the urgency in Telangana CMO. Mr Rao took charge as Principal Secretary soon after the GO is issued.
