Power distribution finalized between AP and Telangana

Power distribution has been finalized between AP and Telangana. There would be a re-alignment of the electricity distribution utilities in Telangana and AP. In 2000, the State un-bundled electricity distribution into four utilities – Eastern Power Distribution Company (APEPDCL), Southern Electricity Distribution Company, Northern Power Distribution Company (APNPDCL) and Central Power Distribution Company (APCPDCL).

At present, the Central Power Distribution utility is the biggest. However, two districts – Ananthapur and Kurnool – are shifted to SPDCL.Power distribution shared between various DisComs would be – CPDCL – 38% NPDCL – 15% EPDCL – 17% SPDCL – 30%. Keeping in view the power consumption, AP gets 47% and Telangana gets 53%.
