MLA’s Followers Attack & Interrupt RDS Work, Again

The Karnataka government’s bid to raise the height of Rajolibanda Diversion Canal (RDS) has been interrupted on Tuesday , with a mob of 1500 from Kurnool district, followers of local Mantralayam MLA Balanagi Reddy, reaching the dam site in big numbers and trying to attack the former chairman of RDS Seetaram Reddy. The construction activity has been stopped for the time-being.

The Karnataka government has decided to provide protection to workers at the site and work is expected to be resumed on Wednesday. Mahbubnagar collector spoke to Raichur collector and requested for police protection for the work to be finished as the activity is vital for the district. Earlier, Telangana and Karnataka decided to carry on with the work as per prior agreements made between composite AP & Karntaka governments in the past.

Meanwhile, Kurnool district collector Vijaya Mohan and AP Irrigation Department engineers reached the site and are furnishing a report to the AP Government.
