“Not ‘T’ In A Cup Anymore, This Is Telangana State”, Govt. Reminds Media

dora telanganaThe Telangana government has urged the media not to use ‘T’ as an abbreviation for the Telangana state and advised it to use either the complete word or the State’s code TS.

State’s Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma wrote a letter to editors of all TV channels and newspapers and bought their attention to the wide usage of “T” as a synonym for the Stater

“This new state is often quoted in the media with an abbreviated prefix ‘T’, such as T-Govt., T-State, T-CM etc. In fact, the new state is formally mentioned as ‘State of Telangana’ or ‘Telangana State’ in the AP Reorganization Act.  You may kindly recall that the new vehicle numbering scheme also bears ‘TS’ as the abbreviation for Telangana State,” he reportedly wrote in the letter.

Many national and regional newspapers have been using ‘T’ for Telangana for many years, to often to make the headlines spicy like say, “Storm in the T-Cup” and ‘T all set to be served in parliament’ !

However, the Government wants to set these things right now as it is striving hard to project itself as an investment destination and a state to be taken seriously for ground-breaking reforms and not a place that could make funny headlines.
