Hyderabad To Have World-Class Incubation Centre in IT – Minister KTR

Telangana’s minister for information technology K.T. Rama Rao held a meeting with the heads of premier educational institutes, Indian School of Business and International Institute of Information Technology, at Gachibowli, Hyderabad, to explore the possibility of collaboration between the institutes in the city and the Telangana state government to create the best possible incubation facility for the Information Technology sector.

The minister has announced his intention to fast-track IT sector growth in Hyderabad, and said that the sector will have 5 lakh new jobs with the ITIR project, which will be put on the fast track.

“We are exploring how to create the best incubating facility by having a partnership tie-up between the institutes, state government and some technology partner. The idea is to provide the best eco-system for innovation, research and development,” the minister said.

Some premier institutes in the city already have incubation facilities, but to create a world-class facility, they must all come together.

“We have a large number of engineering colleges and a larger number of young people. We need to create a culture where many young people can create jobs and create them successfully. We have discussed how the top institutes can come together to create an incubation facility for the world class quality of work that we want to do. I think all of us have to work together as no single institute can achieve this,” said the Dean of ISB, Hyderabad, Ajit Rangnekar.

In fact, most incubation facilities that are currently operating across the country have been created by institutes.

The facility being planned by the state government will be the first of its kind to be supported by a state government.

“So far, educational institutions have been in the forefront of creating incubation centres. The government’s support is a very welcome move and this joining of hands would mean the best of our expertise coming together. The government seems to be very keen to move very quickly on this. Our starting position is that the facility should be in IIIT as three key institutes — ISB, IIIT and University of Hyderabad — are in the vicinity,” added Mr Rangnekar.
