Chandrababu Deliberately Provoking Telangana On Power, Water & Fee Reimbursement Issues

Taking on AP CM and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for adopting an anti-Telangana stand, KCR said that while he was trying to find ways to fulfill the aspirations of the cross-section of people KCR_Telangana CMin Telangana for the past fortnight, Naidu was provoking the people of Telangana.  He reiterated that his government is not against the Polavaram project but only wants certain changes in the dam’s design and an amicable solution to the issue of vulnerable villages. “The AP government, instead of initiating a dialogue with us, passed a resolution favouring merger of seven mandals of Bhadrachalam revenue division with Andhra Pradesh, provoking the people of Khammam,” he said. He said the TDP supremo is showing his true colours by setting up obstacles in the development of Telangana as he can not come to terms with the formation of the State.

Mr. Rao said Mr. Naidu rushed to New Delhi even before the TRS government was formed on June 2 and got the ordinance issued. More recently, he denied power to Telangana by revoking power purchase agreements in violation of bifurcation law. Five Ministers of AP also went to Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday to complain against the decision of Telangana government not to reimburse the fee of Andhra Pradesh students studying here. Thereby, the Ministers have admitted that the students were non-locals.

People of Telangana broad-mindedly agreed to allow Hyderabad as the joint capital of two States for ten years but the AP Assembly passed a resolution supporting the ordinance on Polavaram project that transferred 205 villages of Khammam to East Godavari district as a reciprocal gesture, he said.

“Chandrababu is deliberately provoking the people of Telangana by raking up power, water and fee reimbursement issues. AP ministers are asking the Governor to direct the Telangana government to bear the fee reimbursement burden of AP students in Hyderabad. But, we are exercising restraint,” the CM said.

Mr. Rao also criticised Mr. Naidu for asking the Governor to mention in his address to the joint session of AP legislature that the State was “wounded” by bifurcation. This was despite the fact that the Governor had a crucial role in bifurcation.

He asked the Telangana TDP leaders to quit the party if they wanted to win the appreciation of people of the region. He wondered how they could continue in a party that passed a resolution supporting the ordinance on Polavaram. Such actions of AP did not go down well with leaders who joined the TRS today. They wanted to give stability to Telangana government in the wake of continuous attacks by the enemy on variety of issue, as see in last 3 weeks.
