BJP to contest just 25 of the 119 seats in Telangana!

The alliance with TDP is costing BJP dearly in Telangana even before election. According to reports, BJP will contest just 25 of the 119 seats in Telangana playing junior and not partner to TDP. This, after TDP’s open opposition to Telangana statehood is a surprising move not just for public in Telangana, but even BJP’s loyal cadre. BJP which amassed great goodwill in Telangana with it’s unconditional support to the movement in Parliament while Congress was ignoring it did get protested in Telangana with it’s last minute antics during passage of the bill but now that the bill is passed, BJP is standing at the cusp of great power in the region, especially with Congress’ own troubles. It has a chance to emerge as a formidable force in the region as an alternative to TRS and Congress. In fact this is what MIM was fearing and openly quoting as the reason for its reluctance to support Telangana Statehood till Parliament took it up. While BJP not just is squandering a great opportunity but is on verge of committing a historical blunder by standing up to contest in just 25 seats and giving the other 94 to TDP, which is surely going to lose most of them.

According to reports, BJP would contest 8 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana while the TDP will contest from the remaining seats. In Andhra, for the assembly, the TDP is supposedly giving the BJP 15 of the 175 seats and 5 of the 25 Parliamentary seats.
