BJP – TDP alliance deal for 2014 elections sealed!

BJP and TDP have decided to contest the next State elections and General elections in an alliance in Andhra and Telangana, according to sources within BJP in New Delhi. Both the parties are of the firm opinion that UPA would not go back on the Telangana Bill and that the Telangana State is bound to be a reality by end of February. The parties have decided to announce their alliance only after the Parliament passes the Telangana Bill. This is to avoid unnecessary backlash they expect in both regions. Narender Modi is reportedly keen on building alliances in South India and has already met several leaders like TDP’s Chandrababu Naidu, DMDK’s Vijaykanth etc in secret in Delhi. He seem to have taken assistance of several low-profile BJP and non-BJP leaders, like Satish Gujral (son of former Prime Minister IK Gujral), in facilitating these meetings.

Several Congress leaders in AP are reportedly in touch with Venkaiah Naidu to contest on BJP’s ticket in next elections and the ride the so-called Modi wave. Leaders in both the parties in AP are already discussing how seat-sharing would work between the parties in several constituencies and how cadre has to adjust, give and take. More details of this alliance would be public as the Telangana Bill is placed in Parliament.
