The Center has arranged another all party meet to discuss the issues related to Telangana’s demerger from AP. The meeting is likely to be held before the crucial November 7 meeting of the Group of Ministers. This was announced by Home Minister Shinde and came days after reports from Delhi that Sonia Gandhi asked the Government to secure BJP’s support for T bill before placing it in the winter session. While the Government seems to be doing everything to fasten the demerger process with the GoM and the newly formed task force looking into administrative affairs, assets and natural resources, it has not done much on the political front to garner support for its Telangana decision after the CWC’s July 30 resolution. It has come in for criticism for not putting efforts in that direction and now with the winter session approaching fast, the latest all-party meeting convened is to serve the purpose of securing BJP’s support for the Telangana bill in Parliament. In addition, it would further confound TDP’s position on demerger. TDP which was demanding discussions on the issue has now criticized convening the new meeting and already exposed its double standards.
