CM KCR declared that Telangana state government would immortalise the literary giant Dasaradhi Krishnamacharya with a statue and an annual award for literary contributions, with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,116. Speaking on the occasion of 89th birth anniversary of the writer-poet, the CM announced a university or educational institution in Telangana would be named after Dasaradhi. He also announced the government would provide a job to one in Dasaradhi’s family, which is in financial difficulties. Dasaradhi’s family is present on the occasion.
CM recounted how Dasaradhi along with Kaloji, Vattikota Alwarswamy, PV Narasimha Rao, Oddiraju and Maringanti breathed life into Telangana language and culture with their work. The CM said statues for all these literary figures would come up in his government. He also announced an increase in yearly government grant given to Rabindra Barathi from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 1 Cr, for the betterment of activities related to Telugu culture and language.
