800+ Andhras In Telangana Govt Want To Switch To AP Govt, To Retire At 60!

TelanganaChandrababu Naidu’s decision to increase the retirement age of Andhra employees to 60 had an unintended consequence. Many Andhra origin employees who were hitherto refusing to admit their nativity and who even declared themselves ‘local’ in service books all of a sudden decided and declared they are not locals but Andhras and petitioned their HoDs to immediately transfer them to the services of AP Government. The HoDs in turn reported to the Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma that more than 800 such employees want to be immediately relocated to Andhra. Most of these employees are reportedly within few years of getting retired and want to take advantage of Naidu Government’s latest decision.

“They fear that once the distribution is done, moving to other state may not possible. We know most of their reasons are fake. They want to avail the two-year age relaxation for retirement but in the process coming out with vague reasons,” said a senior official in the government.

Some are aggressively pursuing the matter even with the recommendation of MPs, MLAs & Ministers! Officially though, they seem to have mentioned variety of reasons for their request, instead of admitting the 2 year extended service. While some seem to have mentioned they wanted to go back to their ancestral homes, some mentioned they want to be nearer their kith and kin. Some even seem to have mentioned they want to live on the coast!
