The Telangana BJP called the bandh call given by the TJAC and Communist parties have evoked no response from public and is an utter flop. The bandh call was supported by TRS and Congress while allies BJP and TDP stayed away. BJP went a step ahead and criticized the bandh as a political stunt to divert public attention from TRS’s poor governance in Telangana. Here is the press release of BJP in which it said Telangana Govt should focus on implementing loan waivers and fee reimbursements and forget about protesting the Centre’s action on Polavaram and Governor’s powers in Hyderabad! BJP dished out a advice to the State Government to concentrate on ‘development’ and refrain from calling ‘destructive bandhs’ and counted that TRS already called 2 bandhs.
It is interesting to see BJP’s present stance today as only last week, it’s president Kishan Reddy wrote to the Centre requesting for a change in design of Polavaram project. The bandh call was given to protest the Centre’s refusal to reconsider design. Instead of supporting the cause, BJP seems to have wilted under pressure from it’s ‘high command’.
